Barkers Ridge Homeowners Association -

 Barkers Ridge residents are members of the Barkers Ridge Homeowners' Association, Inc., a 501(c) non-profit entity formed in 1984.  The Association is managed by its Board of Directors, the profiles of which are listed below.  This page also provide the minutes of the Board's annual and monthly meetings as well as the formation and governing documents. 

We strive to be a community where we -

We are encouraged to know one another, to celebrate together, and to join in making decisions about the future of the community;   

Value education and extra-curricular activities for children and support our schools;   

Welcome residents of all ages, incomes, cultures, and viewpoints;   

Collaborate with other neighborhoods on issues of mutual concern;   

Feel safe and comfortable in our homes, walking, riding a bicycle, and driving a vehicle, where our streets are pleasant public places;   

Practice responsible stewardship of the natural habitat around us, so that the people, animals, and plants can all thrive in a healthy balance in Barkers Ridge.

Barkers Ridge Board of Directors

Patrick Hughes – President (Elected March 2016) 

Patrick has lived in Barkers Ridge since 2006 where he and his wife, Debbie, have raised their 4 children. They have owned and operated their own small business in West Houston since 2003.  Patrick is also a First Officer and an instructor for a Houston-based airline.  He has had a love for flying since he was a child and considers himself fortunate to have a job that he absolutely enjoys.  His spare time is spent with his family and exposing others to his passion of aviation.  Patrick was elected to the HOA board in 2017 and has served as president of the Association Board of Directors since 2018.   

        

Brian Cheadle - Vice President (Elected March 2019) 

Brian is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Political Science, and has been employed with Travelers Insurance since 2003. Brian specializes in environmental litigation, and is also the community relations chairman for Houston. Brian served in the Texas Air National Guard from 2000-2008, and is a veteran of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Brian has been a resident of Barkers Ridge since 2007, and was previously on the Board from 2011-2016. Brian also served as a board of director for Writers in the Schools, an education based non-profit from 2011-2016.


As a resident, and father of two boys, Brian’s passions lie in ensuring that Barkers Ridge continues to be a safe and friendly place for families to grow, while maintaining and improving property values.

     

James Matthews – Secretary (Elected March 2016) 

James and his family have lived in Barkers Ridge for almost thirteen years now raising two fine boys who both attend Mayde Creek High School.


James is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Environmental Geoscience and Geology. As a project manager for a national environmental and engineering firm, James has performed environmental due diligence and remediation projects across numerous industries. James has been active within the community, having served as president of the Barkers Ridge Swim Team for the last 8 years, a member of the Board of Trustees at Bear Creek United Methodist Church for 3 years, and an instructor in Bible studies at the  Second Baptist Church for the last few years.


As a resident, James has many of the same desires to build and improve our community in order to raise property values for our residents and bring a quality of life unmatched in other communities. To achieve these objectives, James plans to continue to lead capital and maintenance improvements around the pool and recreational area and contribute to the overall governance of the Association.


Judith McGlaughlin - Treasurer (Elected March 2018) 

Judith has lived in Barkers Ridge since 1992. She served as President of the HOA Board from 2002 to 2011.  At the end of 2018, she retired from Schlumberger, where she worked as a portfolio manager in the  company’s M&A team; prior to that time, she was the Director of Strategic Marketing for M-I SWACO, a joint venture between Smith International and Schlumberger.  She is a graduate of Texas A&M University and has a MBA from the University of Houston.


Since retiring, Judith has co-founded One Creek West, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to quality-of-life goals of the communities in "Upper Katy", which includes the unincorporated area between Houston and Katy, as well as Katy proper. The initial objective of One Creek West is to advocate for flood risk mitigation solutions for South Mayde Creek, specifically, and the larger Addicks Reservoir watershed, more generally.

At each of the board meetings of the Barkers Ridge Homeowners' Association, there is a Citizen Communications slot provided at the start of the Open Meeting where you can talk to the board. If you are a resident of Barkers Ridge and are interested in addressing the Board, please let us know at least 7 days in advance by sending a message to BarkersRidgeHOA@gmail.com or via U.S. mail to P.O. Box 26654, Houston, TX 77084. Tell us at which meeting you would like to speak.  Board meetings occur the third Wednersday of each month, with the exception of December. Times and locations are posted in the calendar found on the web site home page.
